The Opportunity

In this role, you will report to the Vice President, Clinical Services Operations and will work closely with the Avantor's Clinical Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

  • 7 years experience of site management, preferably in a related industry

Qualifications

  • Possess the skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage the Archives.
  • Working knowledge of instruments and equipment used in the Archives.
  • Understand thoroughly and make changes to the Standard Operating and Quality Control Procedures of the Archives when necessary.
  • Understand the capabilities of the archives' personnel, operational and technical staff of the facility.
  • Knowledge of US, OECD, and other governmental regulations which affect the Archives.
  • Possess management skills and experience with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication and planning.
  • Highly developed communication skills (written & verbal), and comprehensive knowledge of rules of effective business English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Professional and courteous attitude while communicating both internally with Archives' staff and externally with clients.
  • Ability to successfully build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to balance and coordinate workload for multiple projects.
  • Ability to apply and explain information such as regulations, policies, or procedures.
  • Ability to independently solve problems, perform liaison activities in a work setting and coordinate activities requiring complex arrangements.
  • Discretion, good judgment, organizational skills, initiative, and ability to work independently.

  • Responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of the Biorepository and archival operations including operational planning, capacity and resource management, project management and lab operations. The manager will perform a variety of biorepository functions and should develop a sense of responsibility toward their duties to include the following:
  • Completion of the orientation program with:
  • a. An understanding of our work and how it must be completed in compliance with applicable US and OECD regulations and our Standard Operating Procedures
  • b. An understanding of Chemical Safety and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Understanding the Standard Operating Procedures and equipment associated with their duties.
  • . Understanding the significance of Quality Control procedures and performing their work accordingly.

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for overseeing the processing of Work Requests and special projects meeting applicable regulatory and SOP compliance.
  • Knowledgeable of Standard Operating Procedures of the Archives.
  • Prepare and use various KPI reports to assess Operations performance to ensure customer expectations and internal goals are met. Present KPIs to leadership teams to assess performance.
  • Regularly review business unit workload accounting for both existing and new upcoming developments and adjust Operations support resources to adequately meet project support needs.
  • Regularly review business unit SOPs to ensure relevance to current work environment and make admin process adjustments as needed to ensure efficient process flow.
  • Work closely with Business Development, PMO, Operations Staff, and Corporate Management to identify new business offerings, to support re-price and re-align existing services to stay current and relevant with customer expectations.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of archiving functions and be able to perform archiving procedures necessary for the completion of assigned projects as back-up where needed.
  • Responsible to stay abreast of operating procedures to evaluate and recommend improvements, resources, and training which will improve the operations and quality of the Archives.
  • Ensures appropriate safe use and operation of facility equipment and processing technique training programs are in place for Biorepository technicians.
  • Plans and schedules all activities and services to support platform objectives
  • Direct the activities of all functions involved in the acquisition, processing, storage, retrieval, disposal and value-added processing of archived specimens, samples and products to customers.
  • Ensures current and accurate inventory control for each account.
  • Review capacity requirements and ensure necessary equipment, staffing and training is in place to achieve company objectives within minimal overhead costs.
  • Initiate and coordinate major projects such as facility layouts, facility upgrades and installation of capital equipment.
  • Participates in budget preparation, revenue and account analyses
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture within the team to ensure constant development of processes and people.
  • Lead and coach others in maintaining excellence on GxP, quality control, security and safety, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and quality standards
  • Assists in directing and oversees job assignments and plans daily labor schedules, as necessary.
  • Maintains an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and terminations.
  • Establish department goals and budgets consistent with company objectives and manages performance to ensure attainment.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Instills a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on safety.
  • Models leadership behaviors while actively displaying qualities that reflect integrity, respect, innovation and collaboration.
