ABOUT THE ROLE
Starting as a team of one, the position of SMT Manufacturing Manager at Biofire involves charting the strategic trajectory of the SMT Value Stream and providing hands-on leadership in the day-to-day operations of the SMT manufacturing lines. Responsibilities include equipment specification, process development, programming, and scheduling. Well-suited for an individual with significant expertise in SMT process development and implementation in a high-mix environment, the SMT Manufacturing Manager will play a pivotal role in scaling the process from zero to one. This role will require seamless collaboration both independently and within a team setting alongside Designers, Engineers, and Technicians.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day responsibilities of the role will include:
- Develop, continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing methods and ensure minimal downtime through utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, tooling and production equipment capabilities, change-over methods, and quality control standards;
- Generate SMT and AOI programs utilizing offline software;
- Create reflow profiles and ensure the integrity of solder joints within internal quality guidelines and IPC-A-610 standards;
- Collaborate with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods;
- Estimate production times, future staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for leadership decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on SMT printed circuit board assembly experience working as either a manufacturing or process engineer;
- Understanding RoHS Directive, SPC, PFMEA, DOE and Lean Manufacturing ;
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art pick-and-place machines and supporting systems including solder jet printers;
- Experience with the development, evaluation, and implementation of various SMT processes;
- Previous SMT line start-up experience is strongly preferred;
- Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred.

This is a full-time, salaried role that will require in-office work. The compensation range for this role is $135K - $160K.
LOCATION AND HOURS
Our dog-friendly, state-of-the-art headquarters is located in beautiful Broomfield, Colorado, between Boulder and Denver. Most roles require team members to frequently collaborate in person, but you will enjoy the flexibility to work from home when you need to.
