About the Role: Software Engineer in Test
You own being a multiplier within the team. Your production is viewed through another engineer’s ability to produce. You build test automation frameworks that reduce the expense of testing. Your focus is to deliver releases with a continuous delivery cadence. When a dependency needs updating, your regression test suite is there to provide fast, reliable confidence that the update is not disruptive for the customers. Once the product is being predictably delivered with high company-level confidence, you will be expected to improve the test framework, build internal tools for developers to validate system changes, and architect high-fidelity test Oracles beyond constraint-based, model-based strategies, functional equivalence, and self-verification. You are instrumental in helping this team solve the Oracle problem and work closely with other quality agents to solve it. You are comfortable working with ambiguity within a start up and collaborate with others within your team as well as other internal/external stakeholders.
A potential day in the life of SVT’s Software Engineer in Test: Â
- Ownership of all test automation frameworks
- Integration of written tests into existing test automation frameworks
- Tool creation to optimize the testing cycle while maintaining testing readability

- 2+ years of designing, developing, and maintaining tools to support cloud-based CI/CD pipelines capable of scaling to thousands of concurrent builds and artifacts
- 3+ years of working with postgres / sql databases
- 3+ years of experience in selenium
- Proficient in and comfortable using at least one of these languages: js, c#, java, python, go
- Understand these paradigms: SaaS, on-prem, fuzzing, digital twins, test Oracles
- Understand the following protocols: REST, HTTPS
- Responsible for multiple infrastructure environments (e.g. development, staging, QA)
- Equally good at the small details and the big picture
- Able to decline requests with grace and empathy
- Must be authorized to work in U.S. without sponsorship (I.e. no visa sponsorship or transfers)
- Must reside in Norfolk, VA or within a 3 hr drive from Norfolk, VA
You get bonus points if you also:Â Â
- Prior experience with Azure, AWS, and/or GCP
- A minimum of 1 year experience with: zap, codeQL, and burp
- A minimum of 1 year experience with SOAP and/or SSL/TLS
- xunit and moq testing experience
