Job Summary

The SAN Protocols team is developing next-generation block storage solutions. NetApp's SAN-optimized all-flash arrays deliver a simplified and consistent SAN experience for mission-critical workloads providing industry-leading availability, superior performance, and simplified data management across hybrid cloud environments.
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of industry-leading blocks solutions, business continuity disaster protection, and recovery solutions for blocks.
A key focus will be on new product development and enhancements to existing products. This role is within the Research and Development function, focusing on technology advances, competitive market and customer workload requirements, product cost and time-to-market, and product quality. This position requires an individual to be broad-thinking and systems-focused, creative, team-oriented, technologically savvy, able to lead large cross-functional teams, and driven to produce results.

• Experience in storage systems, distributed systems architecture, data replication and non-disruptive migration solutions.
• Lead a team of high-performing software development and software engineers in the test.
• Experience collaborating with multiple product management and engineering teams delivering complex technical projects successfully within tight timelines and resources.
• Experience in leading and successful delivery of projects in a matrix organization.
• Facilitate product design, implementation, and support, including getting hands-on as needed.
• Strong experience in collaborating with peer engineering management, principal and senior engineers in providing strategic direction and influencing decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Develop a deep understanding of quality charter of various partners like Interoperability, functional regression and system test teams to influence and drive targeted quality initiatives.
• Responsible for ensuring the timely and high-quality release of blocks solutions in Data ONTAP storage OS.
• Take responsibility for results including costs, methods, staffing and performance management.
• Ability to communicate effectively across cross-team globally, explaining complex technical concepts and program status for VP level audience through program reviews.
• Experience in managing software development projects with C/C++ in LINUX/UNIX environments.
• Experience in Blocks protocols (SCSI and NVMe) is preferred.
• Experience in both waterfall and Agile methodologies

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field required with a minimum of 15-20 years of related experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering leadership including 7+ years of experience as a people manager is required.
