BorgWarner DriveTrain Systems is currently looking for a "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Software Test Engineer in our Electronic Controls organization at our Propulsion Technical Center (PTC) in Auburn Hills, MI.

In this role, the Software Test Engineer will be responsible for the software verification for our electronic controls solutions in an effort to meet or exceed customers' expectations. Your area of operation will include drivetrain electronic controls systems. You will work in conjunction with cross functional teams by developing the Software unit, integration, and regression test strategy, and planning and executing the Software tests.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop and execute the verification of embedded software.
• Analyze the requirements and features for the system to be tested, including all the sensors, actuators and its interactions with other systems. Define the test framework that simulates and verifies the identified features and performance, both quantitatively and subjectively.
• Establish the test framework to execute the software unit, integration and qualification testing including the Model In the Loop (MIL), Software In the Loop (SIL) and Hardware In the Loop (HIL) testing.
• Develop Software Test plan based on the system and software requirement specifications, functional safety requirements and the robustness requirements. Develop the test procedures, test plans and execute them in the project.
• Define the requirements and design the test setup for Software testing on the Hardware In the Loop (HIL) or Software Test Bench using target Hardware.
• Analyze the test results, identify gaps and escalate potential issues related to safety, incidents, lack of test completion and lack of working conditions.
• Independently resolve issues with minimal guidance and support.
• Identify opportunities to automate the testing and determine the test set up needs for automation.
• Identify and propose continuous improvement ideas for the testing process.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Master's degree is preferred.
• ISTQB 'Certified Tester' preferred.
• 5+ years of embedded software verification experience required.
• Good understanding of embedded hardware and software design
• Experience in developing control algorithm using MATLAB, Simulink or equivalent. Experience with dSpace TargetLink model and code generation is preferred.
• Experience in network protocols (i.e. CAN) required and Vector tools.
• Experience verifying software to a SW Development process (ASPICE) is required.
• Experience with Software Configuration and Change Management.
• Experience in automotive vehicle development preferred.
• Experience with automated test systems and developing automation tests using CAPL, C# and Python is preferred.
• Experience with microcontroller emulators, debuggers (Lauterbach), logic analyzers, CANalyzers/ CANoe, CANape and similar test equipment
• Experience with using programmable relay boards, NI DAQ devices, programmable power supplies etc. as needed for setting up software test setup is preferred.
• Experience with Time Partition Tool (TPT) is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
