The below is a position with Weil-Mclain, a division of the Marley-Wylain Company. Weil-McLain is an industry leading manufacturer of high efficiency, condensing boilers. With a 140 year history coupled with innovation through digital solutions and climate conscious initiatives, we provide reliable comfort heating solutions for residential and commercial use.
How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Sourcing Manager, you will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the organization's success by ensuring a reliable and cost-effective supply chain that supports business growth. In particular, you will be responsible for a category of commodity/products inclusive of supplier selection, management and strategy. The successful Sourcing Manager will be proactive, and results driven, with a passion for strategic sourcing and supplier management.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Supplier Sourcing and Management
- Lead the development and execution of supplier management strategy and approach
- Adapt to market trends and business requirements
- Exhibit a working knowledge of world-class supply chain process to ensure that existing processes are targeted to attain excellence versus industry benchmarks
- Identify and assess potential suppliers based on quality, capacity, financial stability, and overall fit
- Develop exit strategies for suppliers that do not meet our supplier standards
- Lead the strategic sourcing process including RFQ development, quotation reviews, supplier/contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms that align with business requirements
- Manage cost drivers, changing supply base, and market innovation to capture lower costs and/or higher value
- VA/VE - Work closely with long term suppliers to manage this core supply base for productivity/cost down initiatives through the use of VA/VE tools
- Partner with low-cost country sourcing commodity manager for the appropriate sub-commodities for year over year net cost reductions
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to develop new suppliers with systems to support quick development, low cost, and high quality
- Relationship Management
- Establish relationships with functional and divisional leaders to ensure sourcing strategies align with our business goals and objectives Support and influence NPD (New Product Development) programs in a cross functional setting with product management, engineering, manufacturing, and quality
- Foster strong and collaborative relationships with key suppliers and business partners
- Report/communicate quarterly supplier scorecard results and commodity KPI's with Director of Sourcing and internal business partners/stakeholders
- Integrate suppliers into SPX plants through the appropriate use of Kanban, VMI and related tools
- Continuous Improvement
- Continuously enhance sourcing processes and procedures to streamline operations and drive efficiency gains
- Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions
- Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals and the department and organization
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 5 plus years' relevant work experience in global manufacturing companies with increasing responsibilities in a multi-site, multi-product, company
- Experience driving productivity and value add through negotiations and supplier management
- Experience with formal processes for supplier selection, qualification, contracting and management
- Familiarity with ERP systems and end-to-end supply chain management process (concept, planning, development, launch)
- Demonstrated experience and success working in a fast paced, matrixed environment satisfying multiple customers
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with international sourcing
- Technical acumen to bridge the gap between internal development and external supply base a plus
- Experience in commercial agreements - NDA, Master Supply, Intellectual Property a plus
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data driven decisions
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly, concisely, and professionally
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including manufacturing, with a professional demeanor
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field
- APICS Certified preferred
Travel & Working Environment
- Overnight travel up to 25%
- Office environment with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment
