Meet the team:
We are looking for a talented Automation Engineer with expertise in engineering, design, installation and start-up of automation systems. Actively assists manufacturing operations in problem solving on automated systems and in the validation of manufacturing automation equipment. May also develop code and design system architectures.
At Dexcom you can use your automation engineering skills for the greater good. We implement automated systems used to manufacture medical devices.
Where you come in:
- You demonstrate proficiency in control systems, including relay logic, Allen Bradley PLCs, IPCs, HMIs and industrial networks such as Ethernet, motor control systems and electrical distribution systems.
- You have hands-on background experience and demonstrate expertise in automated manufacturing systems, robotics design and development.
- You have the ability to apply engineering design and drafting tools, such as SolidWorks.
- You review and provide feedback on automation control design, including development and review of controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
- You have general knowledge and understanding of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR 820 and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
- You manage multiple mission critical projects and drive automated manufacturing systems to high producing production systems.
- You have experience in the creation and revision of technical documentation and validation documentation for automated manufacturing systems.
- You have developed test plans, equipment requirements, protocols, equipment documentation, and reports to ensure designs meet product and part specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable standards for new equipment and processes including IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.

- You ensure automation control solutions are designed and deployed in accordance with Dexcom standards, requirements and scope of work (SOW)
- You support the global implementation of automated manufacturing equipment and knowledge transfer.
- You know how to manage multiple stakeholder requirements and navigate conflicting priorities.
- You define and contribute to the development of product assembly equipment, system architecture, robotics concepts, and tooling with internal and external development teams.
- You drive projects and decisions as required using guidance from cross functional teams and stakeholder requirements.
- You have excellent communication (written and verbal) and personal interaction skills and are able to organize and prioritize assignments, provide direction to and participate in assigned functional teams

Experience and Education:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5- 8 years related experience or Master's degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.
