Sr Backend Engineer

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel, and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike. 

Tecovas is looking for a Sr. Backend Engineer to scale Tecovas business operations to the next level. Reporting directly to the CTO,  you are an experienced engineer, and you will be responsible to build, deploy, test, and operate our operational infrastructure. You will implement processes to ensure scalability, security, and performance, and streamline all aspects of the business at Tecovas. You will have wide exposure to all teams and systems at Tecovas to ensure data and information move accurately and efficiently between systems, and reduce manual workloads across the organization. You will be a key cross-functional member of the entire company. 

This position is based out of Austin, TX but will have the ability to work from home and in-office.

What you’ll do:

• With the engineering team, you will own the architecture and technical infrastructure that will scale all of our business operations.
• Leverage best in class engineering practices including Continuous Integration and Deployment, Code reviews and high test coverage
• Be willing to jump into any problem, regardless of teams, systems, or current process.
• Evolve the architecture of our systems by collaborating with other engineers
• Solve Hard Problems that require complex thinking and collaboration with other subject matter experts and systems across the company, including PLM, ERP, Ecomm, POS, Data Pipelines, RFID Systems, and more.
• Communicate technical design and decisions effectively through verbal and written communication across all disciplines in the company including CX, Marketing, Product Development, Retail, Finance, Operations, and Engineering.
• You will work in a team with other Software Engineers and Product Managers. You will collaborate with all teams across the company.

Experience we’re looking for:

• Experience in building and operating scalable systems in production to ensure compliance with operational requirements for security, performance, and reliability
• Experience with Netsuite or other similar ERPs
• Experience with Shopify or other similar Ecomm Platforms
• Exposure to automated testing, TDD and performance debugging tools
• Hands-on with operating the infrastructure on GCP/AWS
• Experience with Javascript/Typescript
• Open to learn new programming languages and frameworks
• You actively document and update technical architecture and enjoy sharing knowledge with the team
• E-commerce background is preferred
