The pay range is $85,500.00 - $153,900.00

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Manage total product, financials and forecasting. Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions. Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues. Lead disaster recovery activities and contribute to disaster recovery planning. Embed data quality protocols throughout data acquisition, processing, storage, and operational use.
The Team
The Enterprise Design and Graphics Environment (EDGE) team manages the core design capabilities at Target, virtual reality devices, and robotics. The EDGE team delivers value-driven technology tools that spark creativity, expand business capabilities, and delight team members. We utilize cutting-edge technology to enable teams to operate at their highest potential.
This role will primarily be responsible for supporting the Target Printing Services team at the CNBC location in Brooklyn Park. This in-house print shop uses state-of-the-art presses, collators, and bindery equipment and is staffed by three shifts working around-the-clock to ensure quality and timeliness.
Job Duties
Target Printing Services Support:
- Focus on building and supporting world-class large scale printing capabilities with printing equipment
- Support pre-press printing technology and processes
- Develop a strategy for improving the productivity and workflow for Printing Services team members; such as integrity of digital files before production, file formatting, resolution, color accuracy, and consistency
- Evaluate existing printing architecture and processes to improve digital workflows, color management, file preparation, and other prepress processes
- Support printing technologies such as Kodak Prinergy, Caldera, EPS Monarch Xerox iGen, HP Indigo, Canon varioPrint, FujiFilm CTP plate systems
- Support Adobe suite of tools (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat)
- Use APIs to automate activities and tasks
- Stay up-to-date with the latest printing technologies and trends
- Create dashboarding to assist with monitoring and troubleshooting
- Actively use Agile methodologies to manage WIP, flow, and prioritization and participate in Sprints to design and guide technology solution development
- Develop automation, scripts, and monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues before user impact
- Utilize standard enterprise tools to develop or implement infrastructure hardware, software, network, and other technical components
- Rapidly resolve hardware, operational, infrastructure and application incidents on macOS and Windows (desktop and server), Linux server
- Provide preventative maintenance, software upgrades, troubleshooting, and quickly resolve problems to ensure infrastructure and application stability
- Participate in the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of platforms, applications, and infrastructure services
- Collaborate with team to promote re-use and develop consistent technical build, implementation and support processes
- Work closely with cross-functional technical teams to implement and troubleshoot solutions, while providing technical expertise
- Partner with business experts to understand needs while working to build solutions to achieve business goals
About you:
- 4 year degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of technology support/development experience
- Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding Target's technology capabilities, and key competitors' products and differentiating features
- Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
- Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
- Influences and applies standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
- Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
