Job Overview

TE Connectivity, Energy Division is currently seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer specialized in planning and developing new product platforms for the renewables market( solar, BESS, wind, hydrogen) to join the Overhead Solutions new product development team.

This position will be located at our Fuquay-Varina location.

Responsibilities will include:

• Designing TE Energy connector products for LV applications using metallic and polymeric materials
• 3D CAD design using Creo/Pro-E & 2D CAD design
• Product Data management of eBOMs
• Executing engineering efforts on new product platforms from concept to industrialization across a range of renewables projects
• Executing on cost optimization/reduction (VA/VE) opportunities for the business
• Preparing design verification test plans, Design & Process FMEAs
• Recording results of design reviews, design decision meetings, and writing technical summaries
• Assisting with product compliance and approvals for all new products and platforms as required by our customers.
• Being a strong technical partner and providing support to product management team
• Attending/assisting with customer meetings, technology days and site visits as required.

What your background should look like:

• BSME, BSEE, or similar engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years of engineering related experience for Energy market applications, with specific experience in the renewables market
• Demonstrated track record of designing power connectors for solar, BESS, and renewables applications
• Knowledge of BESS products and architecture, PV connectors, fuse harnesses, and solar farm trunk architecture
• Knowledge in connector product designs utilizing aluminum and copper materials
• Expertise in cable harness design is beneficial
• Proficient in competitive tear downs
• Proficient at 3D CAD design tools such as Creo, 3D scanning & 3D printing equipment
• Knowledge of grounding connector systems would be an advantage
• Knowledge of plastic material properties
• LDFSS or DMAIC 6-sigma black or green belt an advantage
• Strong knowledge and understanding of ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC connector, BESS, PV specifications
• Proficient in MS Office suite
• Willingness to travel
• Strong customer service mindset and mentality of delivering quality products and services on time and within company cost and profitability objectives.
• Fluent communication with own team, customers, internal senior business leaders and technology leaders
• Individual must be self-motivated and require minimum supervision, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with and balance multiple priorities

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $113,800 - $170, 600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
