General Description:
We are looking for a senior finance professional to join our newly created Shared Service Centre in Warsaw, Poland. This is a key position for an experienced, ambitious finance professional who is motivated to contribute to setting up the finance function as BeiGene builds out its presence across the globe – a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for managing and optimizing all intercompany financial activities across the global organization. This role requires a deep understanding of multinational corporate structures, complex financial transactions, and cross-border regulations. The role will collaborate closely with regional finance teams, tax, treasury, legal, and IT departments to ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of intercompany transactions, from initiation through settlement. This role is critical in driving the company's financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards, in particular optimizing cash flows between trading partners. As a valuable resource to the organization the incumbent is pro-active and brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a non-structured environment. Ability to eventually lead and keep motivated a diverse team in a hybrid work model and driving process excellence is key, as too having a customer orientated resourceful mindset, completes the desired profile.
This role is Hybrid from our Warsaw office, 3 days a week in the office and 2 remote.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Intercompany Operations Management:
- Participate in the global intercompany operations, ensuring consistency and accuracy in the timely processing of intercompany transactions across all regions.
- Manage the global intercompany matrix, including invoicing, allocations, settlements, and reconciliations.
- Supervise the intercompany billing process, ensuring timely issuance and receipt of intercompany invoices.
- Oversee the reconciliation of intercompany balances, ensuring that discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly.
- Manage complex intercompany transactions, such as cost-sharing arrangements, transfer pricing adjustments, and cross-border allocations.
- Manage cash flow projections related to intercompany transactions to support overall cash management in collaboration with treasury.
- Develop, implement and monitor payment schedules and prioritize payments as needed.
- Continuously evaluate intercompany processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and minimize errors.
2. Process Improvement and standardization:
- Develop and enforce standardized intercompany policies, procedures, and controls across all business units and regions.
- Collaborate with IT to drive automation in intercompany processes, utilizing ERP systems and other financial tools.
- Participate in global projects aimed at harmonizing intercompany processes, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and digital transformation in intercompany operations, working with technology teams to implement solutions.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and tools that can enhance the efficiency and accuracy of intercompany activities.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for intercompany processes, regularly reporting on performance to senior leadership.
- Use data-driven insights to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to optimize intercompany workflows.
3. Compliance , Governance and Reporting:
- Ensure all intercompany transactions comply with USGAAP, International financial reporting standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and local statutory requirements.
- Work closely with the tax department to ensure intercompany transactions comply with global transfer pricing regulations and other tax laws.
- Prepare for and manage intercompany-related audits, both internal and external, ensuring all required documentation and records are accurate and accessible.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all intercompany processes, policies, and procedures.
- Produce and analyze regular reports on intercompany transactions, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to give stakeholders visibility into intercompany activities and financial impacts.
4. Stakeholder collaboration and communication:
- Act as the primary liaison for intercompany matters, coordinating with finance, tax, treasury, legal, and operational teams to address and resolve intercompany issues.
- Foster strong relationships with regional finance leaders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on intercompany matters.
- Lead intercompany working groups, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss challenges, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
5. Leadership and Team development:
- Eventually lead, coach, and develop a global team of intercompany specialists, ensuring they have the skills, tools, and support needed to perform at their best.
- Set clear goals and performance expectations for the team, conducting regular reviews and providing constructive feedback.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Allocate resources effectively to manage the workload across regions, ensuring timely and accurate completion of intercompany tasks.
6. Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of the company's financial strategy, particularly in areas related to transfer pricing and working capital optimization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Currently this is a single contributor role which will evolve with the buildout of the function - it is envisaged to create a central team overseeing intercompany activities leveraging automation tools
Requirements:
- Accounting/Business/Finance Bachelor degree with minimum 7+ years of Intercompany experience – professional certification: CPA, CIMA is highly desirable
- Multinational finance environment with a proven track record of leadership and driving process improvements within the intercompany function
- Strong understanding of the intercompany elements expected in both the pharmaceutical industry as well as those related to a startup environment and funding of new legal entities, including transfer pricing
- USGAAP, European accounting standards, tax regulations knowledge.
- Ability to lead and effectively manage a diverse team
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP 4 Hana) and accounting tools (e.g. Blackline)
- Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate clearly in a compelling manner the interests, evolution and status of the Intercompany function
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Project Management experience a plus
- Multilingual skills, with proficiency in English and any additional European languages being a plus.
- Desire to work in a fast paced, changing (currently unstructured) environment
