Job Description
Senior Software Engineer, Systems Engineering
Role Summary
Xealth created the cloud-based clearing-house for digital health content. On the road ahead, we will create responsive web applications, develop custom recommendation engines, and create analytics solutions to help clinicians throughout the US. Our product runs on AWS, integrating tightly with 3rd party EMR and practice management systems such as Cerner and Epic. We’re a highly skilled, passionate team, disciplined in our agile approach, with a track record of success –– and we are proud to be applying our efforts to improve healthcare options for everyone. We are positioned at the nexus of diverse data intersections.
As a Senior Software Engineer, System Engineering, you have broad responsibilities encompassing our cloud platform including Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). If you have experience and are excited about architecting and deploying scalable and maintainable container-based software in a cloud/container environment, this is the role for you!
We believe in seamless integration between software architecture, developer experiences, and cloud deployment. You will help architect and deliver the software components, automation infrastructure to enable our engineering teams to configure, test, and deploy software quickly, easily and independently. You will help select and bring in best-of-breed tooling as well as develop in-house automation. You will participate in the design and development of new APIs and services, as well as workflow-solutions around Electronic Health Record message processing.
You will also use your experience and expertise to ensure we deliver highly scalable and reliable applications that contribute to building effective Service Level Objective (SLO) based alerting and monitoring solutions that lead to quick root-cause analysis, minimize alert fatigue, and improve overall observability of the Xealth Platform.
You will find ways to eliminate complexity and mental overload. This includes configuration management for multiple environments, minimizing pain points around secrets and sensitive information, scaffolding new services, and assisting with effective testing strategies for continually releasable software. You will enhance our automation and processes around our GitOps process for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
Join us in this exciting opportunity where you can apply your software engineering skills and make a significant impact on the healthcare industry. Together we will explore the possibilities, transform insights into action, and redefine the future of patient care.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Seasoned engineer with demonstrated record of producing clean, well-architected and maintainable software, well-versed in SOLID principles and other best practices.
- Enthusiasm for open-source cloud technologies and developing elegant container-based solutions for Kubernetes, delivered using GitOps.
- Expertise in Kubernetes, both administering and extending, is strongly desired.
- Extensive experience debugging a host of challenging problems around scaling, memory, concurrency, consistency, system issues, etc. in a cloud environment, preferably using AWS and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Software Engineers, Product, Product Management, and customer liaisons as a Systems Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer.
- Experience developing production-grade software (container and serverless) for AWS and/or Kubernetes using Typescript and Node.js.
- Full understanding of authentication, authorization and other security issues, both at application (OAuth2, etc.) and infrastructure level (VPC, IAM, network policy, etc.).
- Expertise in issues and challenges around API design (REST, GraphQL, etc.).
- Solid record of dealing with a variety of database technologies (NoSQL, relational, memory caches, etc.).
- Experience delivering scalable solutions that involve asynchronous message processing, queuing, and workflow processing.
- You have extensively used a variety of AWS services and configured infrastructure as code (IaC, using Terraform or similar technologies) and CI/CD (GitOps, GitHub Actions, etc.).
- Proficiency around monitoring, observability (metrics, logs, traces), and SRE principles and best practices.
- Curious and experimental technology enthusiasm and engagement to move the needles forward on adoption of best-in-breed solutions.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design and develop scalable enterprise SaaS applications in the public cloud.
- Write reusable, testable code
- Mentoring other engineers and helping to build a learning environment for the team.
