Sr. Strategic Global Supply Management Lead

Position Summary

The Sr. Global Supply Management (GSM) Strategic Leader incumbent should have strong strategic planning skills, excellent communication and negotiation capability and a solid analytical ability. This individual should provide direction and focus to ongoing productivity improvements and contribute positively to the bottom line of BorgWarner. In addition, they will have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and allocate resources to deliver high impact results. The candidate shall foster a strong performance and work ethic within the organization and their peers.

This individual will be seen as the expert for assigned commodities and play a key role in developing strategies that support the plant and BorgWarner globally. The candidate will provide commodity industry insight and advise and lead the strategic direction to drive competitive advantage for BorgWarner.

GSM Strategic Leader Supports Regional Cross RUs

Standard Duties :

• Lead supplier negotiations, sourcing and managing supplier performance for assigned products and services across Regional Cross RUs with similar with little to no management assistance.
• Working with Global Commodity Managers, develop and execute commodity strategies at Regional level.
• Monthly GSM cost reduction forecast: Compile, Analyze, Align with finance team and present monthly forecast to the organization
• Investigate and develop global sourcing opportunities whenever possible to consolidate and leverage across BorgWarner locations.
• Grounded in a sound understanding of supply markets and deliver significant and sustainable reductions to the bottom line.
• Lead business teams to leverage knowledge to develop global strategies across multiple facilities
• Lead cross functional team in complex strategies and / or resourcing project(s).
• Develop and implement long and short-range plans and objectives to ensure cost-effective and efficient management of plant requirements.
• Work with global BorgWarner team to coordinate Sourcing for new production launches by establishing and leading cross-functional supplier teams.
• Implement continuous improvement programs with suppliers that result in cost reductions
• Develop long-term partnerships with world-class suppliers.
• Introduce the organization to new technical developments in materials and components, which will help the organization achieve its objectives.
• Work with other BW plants to benchmark suppliers and purchasing best practices.
• Perform job functions in accordance with applicable quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor industry trends and dynamics and communicate to business on periodic basis.
• Responsible for all commercial discussions with the supplier
• As required, act as a entry level manager for Co-ops, new buyers
• Accurately maintain supplier Purchase Orders and Schedule Agreements.
• Maintain monthly/ quarterly commodity adjustments for the supply base and accurately reflect same in forecasts of regional plants.
• Accurately maintain monthly cost reduction forecasts across regional units.

Additional Information:

• Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time

Safety and Physical Requirements:

• All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
• Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
• Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.

Education & Experience

Knowledge/Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management preferred or in a related field required
• Masters Degree preferred
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M) certificate preferred
• 10+ years' experience in related field required
• 5+ years' of supplier negotiations in automotive direct material purchasing area for sourcing engineered components required
• 2+ years' of Forging/machining purchasing experience required Automotive knowledge and experience strongly preferred
• Ability to provide mentoring
• Ability to work at a fast pace and be self-driven
• Recognized process expert with ability to convey/train knowledge to others
