POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Test Engineer will be responsible for the development and validation of test equipment used in the validation and development testing of solenoids and electric motors. The role will be responsible for test equipment specification development and execution. The Sr. Test Engineer is responsible to manage, document and maintain calibration on test lab equipment. The Sr. Test Engineer should be proficient in operating, understanding at a detailed level the test lab equipment including data acquisition and control methodologies. The role requires proficiency in lab equipment operation and integration including vibration test cells, thermal chambers, power supplies, oscilloscopes, LCR meters, leak testers, and various data acquisition systems and controllers. The Sr. Test Engineer is accountable for the for the validation test equipment meeting the product team requirements and its completeness and accuracy of data.

The Sr. Test Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Services Manager, and will interface closely with product engineering, lab technicians, OEM customers and various other supporting functions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for validation equipment of solenoids and electric motors
• Develop test equipment development timelines from customer specifications
• Coordinates design and development of test equipment and test fixtures
• Assists product engineers to design and develop tests as well as interpret customer requirements
• Responsible for coordinating Measurement Systems Analysis of test equipment
• Assists in supporting development and implementation of global test and validation procedures
• Responsible for summarizing test data and documenting validation test systems with electrical schematics, BOM's and build diagrams.
• Supports engineering management in developing capital equipment needs and implementation planning
• Assists in budgetary planning for validation equipment costs
• Development and usage of data reduction and data analysis scripts
• Development of test control and DAQ software using
• Operation of in house test equipment and management of outside testing vendors to support test activities

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Other)
• 5-15 years of experience in product Development lab or Validation test environment
• Proven leadership and communication, well organizational and data driven
• Working knowledge and understanding of industry standard specifications for automotive electrical components. (GM3172, CS00056, CS00054, VW80000, ISO 16750,etc.)
• Lab instrument / equipment setup, operation and troubleshooting
• Data Acquisition and Test system development and troubleshooting
• Strong data analysis skills using Excel, Visual Basic, MATLAB, and Minitab, etc.
• Data analysis: R&R studies, mastering, correlation, SPC, problem solving, statistical methods and MSA
• PC skills (Visual Basic, LabVIEW, FAMOS, MATLAB, Vector, SharePoint ) programming design and debug
• Development of project timelines using Microsoft Project
• Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic system experience
• Knowledge of lab practices using pressure transducers, temperature transducers, flow meters, accelerometers, vibration instruments, Dyno's, DAQ
• Experience in structured problem solving analysis, Shainin Red X, FTA, 8D
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of operation and function of test and data acquisition equipment
• Skills to interpret engineering drawings including mechanical and electrical schematics
• Understanding of electromagnetics and hydraulics preferred
• Willingness to be on call
