In this role, you will have opportunities to further your expertise as an accountant through project contributions within Finance and across other departments.  You will report directly to the Senior Accountant, and will regularly work with leadership at the executive level, including our VP of Finance. 

Who You Are

You have a solid knowledge base in Accounting as evidenced by your past responsibilities in payroll, billing, month end close and support of third party audits.  You bring the ability to complete account reconciliations, book journal entries and identify exceptions requiring investigation.  Your experience enables you to identify situations that require scrutiny, and you know when to pursue resolution independently and when to ask for guidance.  You are intellectually curious about the “why” behind the task, are continuously learning how Finance supports and connects to the broader business operations and motivated by opportunities to deliver excellent work. Additionally, you have:

• Held a general staff accounting position for a minimum of 2 years
• Knowledge of GAAP with demonstrated proficiency
• Prepared month-end balance sheet reconciliations 
• Performed General Ledger journal entries
• Held the responsibility for Accounts Payable org-wide
• Demonstrated full oversight of Accounts Receivable/Billing
• Experience with Daily Cash Reconciliations
• Liaised effectively between Finance and Sales, Marketing, HR, Operations and other internal or external stakeholders including Banks and Auditors
• Demonstrated a proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Quickbooks, Dynamics, Netsuite or similar
• Demonstrated a Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel, and in the Google Suite of products including Sheets and Slides
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational and stress management skills
• An ability to work with little to no supervision

What You’ll Do At 8th Light

You’ll establish and maintain relationships across the organization and with external partners. During your time as a Staff Accountant at 8th Light you will also be responsible for: 

• Entering data for and reconciling general ledger accounts, including, but not limited to, cash, credit card, accounts payable, accounts receivable
• Sending all approved information for new client setup (W9, bank info, new vendor setup in portal)
• Weekly & Monthly Invoicing
• Working with the Fixed Asset Ledger
• Handling Collection calls & emails
• Maintaining balance sheets
• Carrying out month-end close activities in a timely and accurate fashion
• Assisting with annual third party financial statement review (or audit) preparations
• Investigating and resolving account discrepancies and other findings
• Liaising with HR on payroll accounting, changes, tax and regulatory reporting and compliance
• Maintaining operations data reporting
• Contributing to existing/ evolving accounting systems, programs, and procedures by implementing changes and/or streamlining processes
• Documenting any process or policy changes to ensure procedures are up to date 
• Creating ad-hoc reports as needed
• Performing other accounting duties as needed

Compensation Notes: The salary range for this role depending on years of experience and geo-location will range from $70,000- 90,000.
