What We’re Looking For: 

The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of Skillz’s financial records. The Staff Accountant will work closely and productively with senior accounting leaders and executive management to complete journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensuring associated control requirements are met. The ideal candidate will have worked in a successful high-growth company and can bring such experiences to Skillz as we continue to define the future of esports and mobile gaming. The role reports to the company’s Accounting Manager.

What You Will Do: 

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the purpose and process of assigned monthly JE’s, recons and associated control requirements.

• Recommend at least two process improvements and propose implementation plan.

• Complete close tasks on time, including but not limited to JE and reconciliations (measured by 2.5% materiality threshold, for responsible areas, and by month-end close checklist).

• Ability to clearly articulate routine processes and answer questions effectively.

• Respond to audit or internal questions with limited assistance or correction from management.

• Be a reliable contributor to the 10K/10Q tie out by completing all assignments on time (per checklist) and per SOP.

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business.

• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.

• Thorough understanding of basic accounting principles.

• Extensive experience in Je and reconciliation preparation.

• Advanced knowledge of excel and hands on experience with accounting software (Netsuite experience is a plus)
