ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Staff Accountant for the PEAK6 Investments family office team, you will support our day to day family office by helping to oversee and organize financial transactions, communicate with accounting and budgeting staff, and prepare financial reports. As part of a small team in a dynamic business, tasks may shift as our firm's priorities change.
This role will be based out of our Austin, TX HQ and will work in a hybrid environment.
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual ready to dedicate themselves to interesting day-to-day financial and operational projects. The ideal candidate will do well adapting to shifting priorities and maintaining confidentiality. If you have held or currently hold a role in accounting/finance, especially that within a family office, we'd be excited to speak with you.
You'll be responsible for:
- Accounting for and reporting on daily and monthly cash activity
- Owning month-end close processes such as posting/reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing monthly financial statements, and other accounting/finance responsibilities
- Preparing monthly reporting packages
- Understanding and analyzing expenses and their drivers, with a focus on detailed technology tracking and continually push for cost saving opportunities
- Manage the payment/reconciliation process across the family office umbrella
- Processing and tracking employee expense reimbursements
- Assisting the family office team with projects, including ad hoc reporting and analysis, as well as year-end financial reporting
- Driving forward existing processes and helping to create efficiencies by leveraging technology
- Managing several tasks, with the ability to shift between priorities as needed
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance, OR an understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping skills.
- 2-5 years of experience in Accounting
- Familiarity with Microsoft office and Google Suite
- Attention to detail with organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to speak up and get your questions answered
- A strong ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate a fast paced environment
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- Prior family office experience highly preferred
