Staff TLM Backend for ML Threat Detection

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Cyber Defense team focusing on the development of the next generation AI-powered security platform. This platform will be instrumental in enhancing our cyber defense capabilities across security operations, incident response, threat intelligence, and more. The security landscape is constantly evolving, and with the adoption of ML/GenAI backed by extensive heterogeneous data, security threats are inevitably broadened. With your deep and comprehensive expertise across major technology stacks, you will architect, implement and scale industry-leading security solutions for cyber defense. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with cross-functional security and engineering teams, and play a key role in shaping our cybersecurity strategy by leading a team of engineers.

What the Candidate Will Do

• Establish and project manage projects and roadmaps that meet the overall Cyber Security and Threat Detection vision.
• Grow, coach, and develop a team of skilled software engineers.
• Contribute / drive / review technical design docs
• Design and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance platform and services for Uber's cyber defense
• Leverage AI models and algorithms to transform threat defense and response from human-driven to AI-driven
• Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to understand their requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build end-to-end cyber defense solutions
• Deliver high-quality code, conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and mentor junior security engineers

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Java, Python, or Go
• Strong experience in backend software architecture design
• Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with AI/ML technologies and frameworks and incorporating them into production systems
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, tools, and best practices
• Proven track record of leading complex software projects from inception to delivery
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation
