Job Description
AECOM's Complex Bridge Preservation Practice is seeking a Structural Engineer in Philadelphia, PA.
AECOM's Complex Bridge Preservation Practice works on long span bridges that are nationally recognized, iconic structures, critical to a nation's strategic transportation network and vital to local communities. These bridge types include but are not limited to suspension, tied-arch, cantilever truss, continuous steel truss, and cable-stayed.
Our preservation practice includes engineers with unrivaled experience in inspecting and maintaining complex bridges as well as designing and supervising rehabilitation schemes on many significant complex bridge preservation projects. The practice is uniquely tied with industry-recognized experts throughout AECOM's Global Bridge Practice. As a leading innovator in the latest technologies for long span bridge preservation, the practice consistently presents technical papers detailing these techniques and has received national awards within the industry.
This role will offer unique opportunities to grow and develop your career and be a key leader in the long term development and growth of the practice learning directly from the practice leaders.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Initially as field engineer on a local long span bridge preservation project in construction with duration of six (6) to twelve (12) months. Following end of the field assignment the position will transition to local Philadelphia office location or another local complex bridge project.
- Preparing design calculations, plans, and project specifications on long span bridge preservation and rehabilitation projects throughout North America on behalf of our clients.
- Work independently or as a member of a team to perform structural engineering tasks primarily in the long span bridge, transportation industry.
- Travel and perform detailed short-term field inspections of bridge elements. Medium to longer term field assignments opportunities may arise. Office to travel ratio: 80/20.
- Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous projects.
- Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Utilize and maintain schedules.
- This role will require work at considerable heights with requisite safety equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus and 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid drivers license with good driving record
- Engineer in Training Certification with the desire to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Masters Degree
