Job Description

Objective of the role

Our SUSE Consulting team is growing. We are looking for consultants with an excellent background in delivering Linux solutions to enterprise customers. New consultants will join our current team of subject matter experts and will be given the technical training needed to ensure we provide world class consulting services to our SUSE customers. Technical skills and capabilities need to be balanced with very strong interpersonal skills to work closely with our customers and become their trusted advisor. This is an individual contributor role, reporting to the Consulting Manager in North America. Occasional travel will be a requirement.

Focus Area

• HA SAP on Linux experience
• SUSE Manager advanced deployment and administration
• Advanced SUSE Linux Enterprise Linux product skills
• Strong knowledge of general Linux systems management tools and processes
• Advanced knowledge of SUSE Linux systems monitoring tools
• Understanding of Linux scripting (bash, perl, python, etc.)
• Networking technologies

Additional Skills:

• Unix to Linux migration experience
• Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux experience
• Experience with Containerized Solution architectures (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
• Experience with Automation Solutions (Salt, Ansible, etc)
• Enterprise Storage experience
• Well versed in presenting solutions to customers

About You

• A willingness and ability to travel 25% is required.
• Consultant will primarily work with SUSE customers to design, review, and implement Linux environments. These activities will include SUSE Linux architecture, design reviews, health checks, and solution implementation.
• Consultant roles will include working with SUSE's engineering and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues and product defects
• 6+ years of experience in the IT industry. 3+ years of consulting architecture, design, and implementation experience
• Technical skills in designing, configuring, tuning, testing, and documenting Linux solutions in large enterprise environments
• Strong track record in delivering projects to a successful conclusion (customer satisfaction, scope, budget, financial)
• A bachelor degree or related degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience) is required
• Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills
• Ability to absorb new technologies and concepts quickly
