Your Role
As a Gensler Technical Designer, you will collaborate with our Practice Area Leaders and Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect's sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do
- Collaborate on design projects in the workplace, retail, life sciences, and healthcare practice areas, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development and documentation
- Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
- Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
- Assist in resolving complex technical and design issues
- Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination
- Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction
- Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs
Your Qualifications
- 0-4 years' experience designing multiple building typologies of varying scale
- Experience in Healthcare or Sciences or Workplace or Retail projects preferred
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture required
- Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding graphic presentation skills
- Strong Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office experience desired. AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay also beneficial
