Job Description/Requirements
About the Role
IMAX is excited to be looking for a Theatre Development Director to join our growing team. Reporting into the Senior Vice President, Theatre Development, you'll drive the expansion of the complex IMAX theatre network across Europe and Africa. We're looking for someone with excellent sales experience who can support a variety of activities across the region, including sourcing customers, delivering pitches, preparing proposals, and taking part in negotiations.
What You'll Do:
- Support ongoing client-scouting activity, identifying cinema operators and specific sites that would be suitable to become IMAX theatres
- Monitor all sales operations within the region, recording all key actions/tasks and maintaining a customer database
- Monitor box office results by customer to enable sales team to anticipate any issues with customer
- Qualify the enquiries and requests that IMAX receives from time to time from prospective clients, conducting due diligence on the proposed projects and engaging with the counterparts as needed
- Assist in preparing internal reports and presentations, including market reports for IMAX business viability, budgeting, and forecasting
- Update, develop, maintain, and create sales materials and assets for the European and African markets in coordination with the Marketing team
- Prepare and organize data to build the sales arguments supporting the business case for the IMAX business model
- 5+ years' experience in business development, sales, and/or marketing
- Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Written and spoken fluency in English and at least one other European language, preferably French and/or German, with additional language skills a plus
- High degree of flexibility required for international travel; must hold valid passport
- Ability to adapt to diverse business environments and different cultures, across a variety of different territories
- Strong planning and organizational skills to successfully manage sales operations and support senior executives across multiple territories
- Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, be creative and establish priorities to support business development in a competitive market
- In-depth understanding of the cinema industry, especially the economics as well as dynamics of film distribution and theatrical exhibition
