Job Description
Key responsibilities
- Passion for engineering with strong fundamentals in power conversion and system engineering
- Self-driven with curiosity for innovative engineering approach
- Must be able to lead a technically compelling research collaborations with academic and industry partners tailored towards BorgWarner product roadmap
- Deep expertise in power electronics using Si, SiC, and GaN semiconductor technologies
- Strong knowledge with voltage source inverter (VSI), DC-DC converters, On-Board Charger (OBC) architectures for automotive applications.
- Deep expertise in designing and architecting the gate driver circuities for Si-IGBT, SiC-MOSFET inverters as well as for converters using GaN-HEMT.
- Knowledge of designing and sizing DC bulk and decoupling capacitors as well as X- and Y filter capacitors for variable frequency voltage source inverter.
- Deep knowledge of circuit design and simulation, PCB layout and routing experience with CAD tools such as Altium and Allegro.
- Should be able to develop Matlab/Simulink simulation models to assess the design for optimal electric power conversion performance and efficiency, as well as EMI/EMC constraints/limitations.
- Excellent knowledge of high voltage electrical architecture implementation and design with first principles.
- Excellent understanding of numerous inverter architectures (Current source, Multilevel) and application of the same to traction drive.
- Strong knowledge in controls software and system operations of power conversion systems (VSI, DC-DC, OBC etc.)
- Excellent know how of field-oriented control (FOC) principles and the associated pulse width modulation techniques such as SVPWM, DPWM and six-step method for 2-level VSI architecture.
- Good know how of DC-DC conversion principle and application specific knowledge.
- Good understanding of OBC operational principle and application to different SAE (e.g. CCS1 and 2) protocols.
- Basic know how of the electric vehicle supervisory controls, system integration techniques
- Basic understanding of functional safety for electrical and control systems of high power and high voltage automotive propulsion applications.
- Should be able to work with automotive communication network (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
- Must be able to lead technically and provide guidance
- Must be able to develop innovative solutions and application-specific design
- Good written and oral skills to articulate complex engineering problems
- Must be able to work in a team environment in a cross functional discipline
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field required
- Candidates with Master's or PhD degree preferred
- Experience in automotive industry preferred
- Understanding of following tools used in automotive applications
- LT- and PSpice, Allegro, Altium, Vector tools
- MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++
- Microsoft Office
