Trading Analyst

The Trading Analyst will play a crucial role in optimizing and managing the energy trading activities at Pine Gate Renewables. This position will focus on providing data and information to help drive structured energy trading strategies, monitoring market trends, and provide valuable insights to maximize revenue while minimizing risks.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate cross-functionally with PGR internal teams to support the management of PGR REC portfolio including registering, trading, settling, transferring, forecasting, optimization, and reporting.
• Tracking and predicting developments in the energy market policy and regulations at a state, regional, ISO and federal level, and interpreting how they impact our existing views. Ensure compliance with relevant rules and guidelines.
• Maintaining and expanding data sets, using an appropriate range of tools to manage large volumes of data, including those for energy supply, demand, and prices.
• Building or enhancing operating analytical models to provide detailed insights and forecasts.
• Interface with external customers, partners, and brokers. Internally this position will interact with teams such as commercial transactions, trading, asset management, risk, legal and accounting.
• Reconcile commodity activity to ensure data quality, deal confirmations as well as communicating impacts to commercial and accounting teams.
• Make data-driven recommendations for portfolio adjustments.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements around settlement and accounting processes.
• Assist with structuring and negotiating documentation to put trades into place.
• Help identify and assess market risks associated with renewable energy trading.
• Assist in the implementation, configuration and testing of PGR Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system.

Must-Haves

• Prior experience with energy trading firms or financial institutions dealing with commodities (power, RECs, emissions, power basis, emissions etc.)
• Knowledge of wholesale energy within one or more of these markets: ERCOT, PJM, SPP, NYISO, CAISO, ISONE and MISO
• Understanding of renewable generation and how it interacts with RTOs, Transmission Owners, and Balancing Authorities.
• Strong asset and transaction modeling skills. Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience and knowledge with RPS obligations and REC markets will be a plus.
• Experience working with basic programming, data, or workflow tools (e.g., PowerBI, SQL) is a plus.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Economics, Math, Business, or a related field
