About the Role:

As VP, Legal at Industrious, you will lead the company’s legal efforts. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity as you help navigate the legal needs of a high-growth company that is changing rapidly. In this role you’ll advise on a wide range of topics, including the following:

  • General in-house legal work: You’ll oversee the internal legal needs of a growing company, from employment-related work, to managing legal risk in the business, to corporate governance, to the thousands of contracts with vendors, partners, or general contractors and issues of compliance with state and federal law across our various business lines. This will also include management of any litigation, should it arise.

  • Network expansion: You’ll oversee the expansion of our network through new partnership agreements with landlords, and work closely with our Real Estate team to manage the complexities around lease renegotiations, terminations, and other supply-side transactions.

  • Corporate transactions: You’ll manage our legal efforts related to M&A, equity fundraising, debt and other capital markets work.

  • Systems and processes: You’ll develop systems, policies, forms, training, and other infrastructure needed to help the team work most effectively and help us scale.

  • Team management: You’ll be responsible for building and managing a high-performing legal team. We’re looking for someone who has the skills and experience to develop talent and to create an engaged and collaborative team culture.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of experience, with a significant portion of that within in-house legal departments 

  • Experience in a wide range of business law matters, including corporate, commercial, employment, leasing, privacy, equity and debt financing, mergers and acquisitions, and international compliance/regulations. IPO or other public market experience is a plus.

  • Creative, entrepreneurial, quick thinking, pragmatic business-oriented advice and ability to properly balance risks and business reward; ability to craft legal solutions in creative ways is essential.

  • Highly motivated, efficient, and organized; able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently

  • Experience collaborating in a multi-stakeholder environment, managing complex projects, and driving solutions cross-functionally

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (especially the ability to be clear and concise), and ability to advocate for a position while maintaining an open-minded approach.

  • Comfort with rolling up your sleeves and doing your own drafting, commenting, or other legal work; must be low ego

  • A strong track record of driving results through effective team and individual performance, setting clear goals, and managing accountability

Compensation:

The annual base compensation range for this role is between $230,000 and $270,000. The successful candidate's actual base compensation will be based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and professional qualifications.

You will also be eligible for an annual bonus calculated based on individual and company performance.
