Job Summary:

The Offset Web Press Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of color press, as well as managing the manufacturing processes associated with equipment, with an emphasis on productivity, quality, and safety. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

•  Interpret job ticket to determine quantity to be printed, stock specifications, colors, and specified printing instructions.
• Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run.
• Measures plate thickness and inserts packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height and installs and locks plate into position to achieve pressure required for printing
• Provides the correct pressure and registration between the plates and ink in order to obtain a clean, clear impression of the material being printed
• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work.
• Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Maintenance by cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs and replacing parts as needed.
• Resolves technical problems with presses, inks, and other solutions as necessary.
• Inspects work in progress and finished materials to ensure the quality standards and accuracy of printing is being maintained

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Thorough knowledge of printing industry, manufacturing, and press operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use measuring tools, and hand tools is required. 
• Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity, and coordination. 
• General experience in using a computer.
• Mathematic skills to include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret graphs. 
• Good verbal and written comprehension to understand job orders and follow detailed instructions.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, and distinguish between different colors. 
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience:

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Printing experience is required 
•  3-5 year printing experience 
• Allied Training: 6-12 months
• Relocation option

Physical Requirements: Standing-50%, Walking-50%, Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 25-50lbs.

Shift Available & Schedule:  3rd shift: 12:00am-8:00am
