Job Description
As a Weighing Associate you will provide weighing of items for sale, analysis, and production, while ensuring that it is completed safely with high quality, and in a timely manner. The Weighing Associate will cultivate a working environment that is clean and tidy, fair, positive, and driven to continuously improve.
Key Responsibilities involve two main aspects:
- Maintain a High Level of Safety
- Understand, foresee and report possible safety issues.
- Abide by the guidelines prescribed by governing bodies and the TRC Environmental Health and Safety Committee.
- Sustain 5S and general housekeeping of work area.
- Promote a safe working environment.
- Work in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety of self or co-workers.
- Work safely and follow company safety policy and procedures and completing regular quality product checks.
- Adhere to the department 5S standards.
2. Weigh and Verify Orders
- Carefully and accurately weigh chemicals.
- Use appropriate containers and follow weighing instructions.
- Ensure the accuracy of orders and product labelling before final packaging.
- Prioritize chemical products to be picked according to First in First Out (FIFO)
- Report any loss or missing items to the Finished Goods supervisor.
- Communicate any potential issues to the team lead or supervisor.
3. Physical and Working Conditions
- Working closely with chemical compounds including ones that are potentially toxic or classified as Dangerous Goods, and be treated accordingly.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while handling chemicals such as a respirator which requires fit testing. Please note that this requires clean/closely shaven facial hair.
- Must be available for Morning shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma, preferably in Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
- Preferably, 1-2 years of work experience in a similar field
- Good planning & organizing skills.
- Have the ability to do picking activities when required.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Previously worked with a balance with good knowledge of measuring units.
- Good command of the English language.
- Excellent team player.
- Self-starter, task oriented with ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Independently solves problems within their scope.
