z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer (Hybrid - Flexible Options)

We are seeking a z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer specializing in communications products including VTAM/APPN and TCP/IP (Communications Server), Connect:Direct, FTP, TN3270, MQ, NetView for z/OS, and printing software.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Implement, customize, monitor and maintain mainframe communications products including all listed above
• Assist with the analysis, design, and implementation of new mainframe networks and network functions
• Develop, enhance, and maintain monitoring solutions using various tools such as REXX for NetView, OMEGAMON XE for Messaging, OMEGAMON XE for NetView and OMEGAMON XE for Mainframe Networks
• Order, implement and maintain encryption certificates for various software products including MQ and Connect:Direct. In the case of FTP and TN3270 this is done using the z/OSMF tool in an AT-TLS implementation
• Collect and analyze SNA and IP trace data, typically during problem determination and tuning efforts
• Add, modify and delete definitions on a weekly basis for various software products listed here
• Provide 24/7/365 support. This would include on-call support during off-hours
• Understand SMP/E to advise and assist with software installation activity
• Stay abreast of vendor software trends and product release schedules for the z/OS technology software on the IBM mainframe
• Manage multiple projects, and develops detailed implementation plans
• Communicate with management and other technical departments on related software and hardware initiatives

Required Skillset:

• z/OS Mainframe systems programming specializing in communications related products
• TSO, ISPF, SDSF, SMP/E, IBM batch utilities
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and SNA protocols
• Implementation, configuration and support of VTAM, SNA, APPN and HPR
• Implementation, configuration and support of mainframe TCP/IP in a z/OS Parallel Sysplex environment
• Implementation, configuration and support of Connect:Direct and MQ
• Implementation, configuration and support of network management products including NetView for z/OS
• Understanding and support of enterprise encryption applications and processes such as TCPIP AT/TLS & SSL/TLS
• Support and participate in Disaster Recovery exercises

Required Qualifications:

• Strong skills in mainframe systems administration
• Process driven management of technical operations and support.

• Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Capture and transmit system dumps, closely work with vendor's technical support, apply fixes and patches, coordinate testing and implementation of fixes and new versions, and work with other mainframe-based technical teams on production roll-out
• 15+ yrs. of related technical experience.
• MS/BS or equivalent work experience.
