While HR professionals reported a wide range of options, including online courses, mentorship programs, and on-the-job training, employees claimed to have participated in far fewer of these activities. This raises questions about employee awareness, comfort levels with new technologies, and the perceived value of different training methods.
Furthermore, the survey reveals a disconnect between the skills employees believe they possess and those that HR professionals deem essential. Communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills top the list of desired skills, yet employees reported these as their strongest areas, while HR professionals struggled to find candidates with these skills.
The study also highlights the importance of regular feedback, with employees craving more frequent guidance and support. Despite companies' claims to provide regular feedback, employees reported a significant gap between what they receive and what they need.
As we move forward, it's clear that employees and HR must work together to align professional development with individual needs, producing a stronger, more agile workforce. By bridging these gaps, we can create a more effective and fulfilling career navigation process.
