Navigating Your Professional Journey: A Personalized Roadmap
As we embark on a new year, many of us are tempted to set lofty goals and resolutions, only to abandon them shortly after. But what if we took a different approach? Instead of making grand promises, what if we chose a few guiding principles to steer our personal and professional growth?
In 2012, I stumbled upon an innovative approach inspired by Chris Brogan: selecting three words to serve as my guiding lights for the year. This method has been a game-changer for me, allowing me to focus on what truly matters. Over the years, my three words have evolved, reflecting my growth and aspirations.
Some years, I've excelled in embracing these words; others, not so much. But the exercise has been invaluable in helping me clarify my priorities and stay true to myself. Here's a glimpse into my past choices:
- Fresh. Discoverable. Discourse.
- Sensation. Promotion. Veracious.
- Connection. Reflection. Direction.
- Persistence. Performance. Deliver.
- Confidence. Challenge. Cheer.
These three words become my mantra, influencing the content I create and the messages I share with my community. This year, I'm excited to explore new themes and ideas, and I invite you to join me on this journey.
As I recently wrote about vision boards on Visme, I realized the importance of practicing what I preach. I'll be creating my own vision board and sharing it soon. Will you take the challenge and select your three words for the year? Share them with me in the comments below! The simple act of choosing and sharing your words can be a powerful catalyst for growth.
