Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
This position requires an Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AAE) Security Certification/Screening in accordance AR 190-11.
An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
The position requires that the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Qualifications
About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester Oklahoma. This position will operate forklifts (electric, gasoline and/or diesel powered forklifts capable of lifting loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds) in loading and unloading explosives and inert material into or out of railcars, trucks, and loading docks.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Fork Lift Operator (Materials Handler/Explosives Worker) ~ without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common duties handling equipment while loading and unloading explosives and inert material into or out of railcars, trucks, and loading docks. I am skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving fork lift trucks through narrow aisles in buildings, up and down ramps and in and out of railroad cars and trucks. I can visually conceptualize whether a specific load is maneuverable through a particular space. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material that weigh up to 60 pounds, and at times may handle items, with help, weighing over 60 pounds. Good color vision is necessary for proper identification of different types of ammunition by color code.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works inside and outside and subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted areas. Work may be dirty and dusty. Exposed to danger of explosion and fire while working with explosives, chemicals and loaded ammunition. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to burns, cuts, bruises, skin irritations, sprains, and fractures.

Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
