Summary

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Applicants must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy
- Occasional travel is required to include the OCONUS EODGRU ONE and TWO units at least once per year. Duration of travel will usually be seven to fourteen (7-14) days per trip.
Qualifications
Education: A graduate or higher level degree that included:
- A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs(external link) (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained; and
- Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.
NOTE: Applicants who have completed an approved graduate level curriculum and who subsequently completed additional graduate training in a specialized field of clinical practice designed to assure professional competence to practice in the specialty meet the requirements for GS-11. EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the Basic Requirements stated above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
- Experience performing a wide range of complex physical therapy duties requiring a mastery level practical knowledge of physical therapy, evidence-based medicine, and data collection.
- Experience developing and implementing complex, goal-oriented treatment plans for patients presenting with a multiplicity of dysfunction and impairments in physical, functional and adaptive areas.
- Experience applying new and developing methodologies as solutions to complex multifactorial problems resistant to traditional rehabilitation approaches.
- Experience designing treatment plans to meet patient/clinical objectives to maximize restoration of physical and functional capabilities.
- Experience developing and updating performance standards.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
