Summary
Incumbent serves as a Maintenance Mechanic that accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of buildings and structures, facilities, and grounds maintenance. Incumbent has working knowledge in at least one of the areas of carpentry, electrical, mechanical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or plumbing trades.

Qualifications
To qualify, no specific length of experience or training is required; however, you must show evidence of experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a journey person Maintenance Mechanic in your resume. This position requires knowledge, skill and abilities in various trades of work such as mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, welding/metal fabrication, painting and general knowledge of electronics and equipment. Your resume must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility appropriate to the position to be filled.

A Quality Ranking Factor has been identified for this position. Candidates that possess the following quality ranking factor will be determined as well-qualified. Quality ranking factor --- Journeyman/Masters license in any of the following trades: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC can significantly enhance performance in a position, but is not essential for satisfactory performance.

This position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant tentatively selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment or pre-appointment drug screening. Persons occupying a "testing designated position (TDP)" will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
Physical Effort: Considerable lifting of heavy materials and working tools, and extensive standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling are inherent in this position. Also, Incumbent will be working under variable conditions which require using protective clothing and gear, safety devices, and safe trade practices. Incumbent must be physically able to wear OSHA standard personal protective equipment (PPE) per 29 CFR.
Working Conditions: Incumbent works inside and outside during all kinds of weather conditions, including varying temperatures.
Travel Requirements: Incumbent will be required to perform occasional travel.
Interview Statement: All or None of the applicants will be interviewed.
Security Requirement: Moderate Risk (5). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 5-year period reinvestigation.
