Rangeland Management Specialist

To qualify at the GS-05 level you must meet the following:

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-05 Rangeland Management Specialist, you must meet the basic requirements.

To qualify at the GS-07 level you must meet the following:

Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level comparable in difficulty and complexity to perform the duties of a Rangeland Management Specialist. Qualifying specialized experience includes: planning and/or conducting range studies on several assigned allotments; assisting higher level professionals with grazing applications and permits; assisting in the management of an invasive weed program including inventorying, monitoring or treatments; monitoring and/or surveying activities; and utilizing automated equipment and systems.

OR Education: To qualify based on education you must have one (1) full year (18 semester hours) of graduate-level education in a related field of study.

OR Superior Academic Achievement: (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the difficulty and complexity to do the work of this position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary but may occasionally require some physical exertion such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces and exposure to extreme temperatures. The field duties of this position require that the employee operate four-wheel drive vehicles on and off roads in isolated areas.

Work Environment: Work is performed in the office and field locations under a variety of topographic and climatic conditions.
