Summary This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Diversion Control Division, UN Reporting & Quota Section. This position(s) primary purpose is to design, develop, and adapt mathematical methods and techniques. Utilizes a number of planning and evaluation activities in ensuring the validity of statistical information upon which agency and Federal policy decisions are made in the development, direction and coordination of the Diversion Control effort. Qualifications Applicants must meet the Basic Qualification - Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: A. Degree: that includes 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND Specialized Experience Required: GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing at least four (4) of the six (6) the following duties: 1) Design, develop, and adapt mathematical methods and techniques to statistical processes; 2) Ensure the validity of statistical data for policy decisions and resource allocation; 3) Prepare complex technical reports, presentations and statistical materials based on data collected and analyzed; conduct research, collect data, reduce findings to facts, and interpret and document findings; 4) Use mathematical and statistical measures/models to resolve problems and make recommendations; 5) Defend/explain conclusions resulting from evaluation of data; or 6) Evaluate the precision and validity of estimates and investigate sources and magnitude of error in data.
