We are an internationally recognized, Emmy Award®-winning studio – in two prominent Canadian cities, Vancouver and Kelowna – and the creative force behind top audience hits such as The Dragon Prince, Rick and Morty, Teen Titans Go!, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.Â
Bardel is looking for a BG Artist to join our team for a short contract.Â
What you’ll be doing:Â
- Assist in the creation of environment layouts and digital painted 2D backgrounds to fit the approved style of the seriesÂ
- Maintain the style and execution of the backgrounds as per requirements of the productionÂ
- Create quick iterations for concept art in the various product stages, full colour functional concept, and final painted environment artÂ
- Provide feedback and solutions to technical and creative issuesÂ
- Work collaboratively to meet production deadlines, ensuring open communication with other managers and team membersÂ
- Actively participate in team/department meetingsÂ
- May mentor entry-level artists by providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that provide for their artistic and professional growthÂ
- Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staffÂ
What you’ll bring:Â
- Strong understanding of perspective and the ability to interpret the cinematic qualities of the storyboard.Â
- Excellent sense of color theory, painting and Photoshop.Â
- Ability to take direction well with a positive attitude.Â
- Strong understanding of 2D animation principlesÂ
- Prior experience in 2D animation for background design or layout an assetÂ
- A positive attitude and dedication to the success of the projectÂ
Location: Only BC-based candidates will be considered. Candidates must be legally able to work in Canada for any employer.
Dates: September 16 - November 15, 2024
Salary Range: CAD $1,200 - $1,400 / week. Â
The Salary Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a jobÂ
