Library Technician

Summary This position is assigned to Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) Navy General Library Programs; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR); Fleet Readiness (N92); Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) (N9); Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Southeast and/or Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. The purpose of this position is to provide front desk, program, and customer service support in Navy MWR main libraries, branch libraries, and resource centers. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms. Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. May be required to pass pre-employment examinations. Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National. A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles. Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Ability to lift, pull, push and carry 45 pounds. May be required to work early, late and on the weekends and holidays. May be required to work outside in inclement weather for special events and programs. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:- Knowledge of Navy MWR Library's mission. Knowledge of basic service operations for libraries. Knowledge of other MWR programs and their purpose. Knowledge of front desk library operations that include library circulations. Knowledge of technology devices and software applications. Skill in providing excellent customer service. Skill in the use of technology devices and software applications to include Microsoft Office applications. Skill in typing. Skill in reading comprehension and basic math. Skill in public speaking. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
