Job Description

Summary Performs a variety of duties in support of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program that may include special events, recreation information/resources, command events, community events, trips, tours,outings, Bowling, Movies and outdoor recreation. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment Must pass all applicable records and background check. Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. Must be at least 18 years old. Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance. Work schedule is flexible and will vary as required by the needs of the program to include night, weekend, and holiday shifts as well as split days off. Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate must possess: Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity-based functions. Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities. Must be able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, organizes, and administers special events and entertainment activities. Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Knowledge of functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities. Must have strong customer service skills. Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports. Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production. A valid state driver's license. C.A.R.E. (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively) training, hold Emergency First Responder (EFR) or CPR First Aid certification or hold a current Food Handler Certfication or be able to obtain them within 90 days of being placed into the position. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. Additional information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Executive Order 12564 requires a Federal workplace free of illegal drugs. According to the Executive Order, all Federal employees are required to remain drug free throughout their employment. Commander, Navy Installations Command is a Drug-Free Federal Workplace. The use of illegal drugs will not be tolerated, and use of or intoxication by illegal drugs will result in penalties up to and including removal from Federal Service. Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of these requirements. Applicants may be required to submit proof of education, participate in medical screening, drug testing, etc. All selections are contingent upon satisfactory employment reference checks.
