Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Conditions of Employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Work involves some physical exertion such as walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, carrying up to 20 pounds, ascending/descending many stairs or rocky embankments, traversing uneven terrain, or similar activities.
Work may involve spending extended periods in dam galleries with dark, wet, cold conditions, and involve short duration exposure to potential weather and temperature extremes.
Must possess color and depth perception, and peripheral vision.
Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to drive at night.
Eyestrain may occur from prolonged use of the computer.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-5 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-6 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data AND (2) analyzing instrumentation data for trends. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS- 05 or above).
GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data; (2) analyzing instrumentation data for trends; AND (3) identify anomalies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06 or above).
GS-8 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data; (2) analyzing instrumentation data for trends; AND (3) investigate anomalies and recommend remediation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS- 07 or above).
GS-9 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data; (2) analyzing instrumentation data for trends; (3) investigate anomalies and recommend remediation; AND (4) repairing instrumentation equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS- 08 or above).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone for the GS-6, GS-7, GS-8, and GS-9 --no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
