To qualify at the GS-9 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-7 level in federal service having demonstrated experience serving as a personal assistant to a manager; controlling the manager's activities schedule, setting up appointments, accepting and declining invitations to meetings, and arranging for representation by a subordinate official; coordinating and assembling background information for meetings and composing correspondence; planning itineraries and schedules for travel, ensuring transportation and accommodations reservations are arranged and the preparation and submission of travel vouchers are complete. You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related. To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-9 level in federal service having demonstrated experience serving as a personal assistant to a senior level manager, defining and developing work processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative support activities; controlling the manager's activities schedule, setting up appointments, accepting and declining invitations to meetings, and arranging for representation by a subordinate official; anticipating, coordinating, and assembling background information for meetings without direction and shifting secretarial staff in subordinate units to accommodate fluctuating workloads; composing correspondence based on knowledge of supervisor's views and desires; planning itineraries and schedules for travel, ensuring transportation and accommodations reservations are arranged and the preparation and submission of travel vouchers are complete. You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or anLL.M., if related. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
