Summary You will serve as a SHIPBUILDING SPECIALIST in the Waterfront Operations Department (Code 300) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding. This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to go into small/confined spaces. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying shipbuilding methods, practices, and management control systems and their application to the construction, overhaul or repair and testing of surface ships or auxiliary and small crafts; 2) Developing detailed reports, recommendations, correspondence, and contract modifications to include detailed cost estimates including labor, material, and time; 3) Utilizing experience with quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that government standards are adhered to and that complex ship's systems are functioning to design requirements, ensuring that test results are documented; 4) Reading and understanding blueprints and specifications; and 5) Maintaining material control and investigating availability of material, sources of supply or manufacturers and possibilities of substitutions.
