Summary
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC); Superintendent, Senate Office Buildings, Painting Branch. As a Painter, the incumbent’s tasks include coating work on furnishings and buildings accomplished by standard methods and special finishing techniques including graining, marbling and mottling using coating materials prepared in special and common methods.

The positions require the ability to work on ladders up to 24 feet, and on man lifts and some scaffolding (lower than 30 feet). Â
To be employed by the Architect of the Capitol in a paid position, an individual must meet one of the categories below:
- A citizen of the United States;
- A person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and is seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B);
- A person who is admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157 or is granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. 1158 and has filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible;
- A person who owes allegiance to the United States (nationals of American Samoa, Swains Island, and the Northern Mariana Islands, and nationals who meet other requirements described in 8 U.S.C. 1408); or
- A person who is currently an officer or employee of the Government of the United States.
Qualifications
You must meet the SCREEN OUT required for this position which includes:
Perform journey level work of the position( Painter) without more than normal supervision. Work experience must be reflected in resume as described in the vacancy announcement.
(ex: Applying materials so that surfaces meet texture, thickness and level requirements; Reading and applying directions that relate to the mixture, use and application of pre-coating agents, solvents, and coating material; and Using painting tools and equipment (e.g., brushes, rollers, screeds, spray guns, straight edges, trowels, viscosity testers)
