About the role

Our client develops financial tools, applications, and workflows to help people find financial information, guidance, products, and tools to make informed financial decisions to meet their unique individual needs.

We are seeking a talented and self-motivated UX Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for a strong individual contributor who thrives in a fast-paced, scrappy startup environment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, yet adaptable to shifting priorities, and able to work efficiently with quick iterative release cycles.

Main Responsibilities

• UI / UX Design work focused primarily on creating mockups and prototypes.

• All design work, mockups, and prototypes are done in Figma

• Produce mockups and prototypes that Business stakeholders can take to vendors for approval

• Understand and work closely with the Product Designer to know their vision and be able to act quickly

• Have a Product focused mindset - this role is not just about making great-looking designs but understanding the business implications that inform effective designs for the client

• Understand UI/UX design from a Business perspective + incorporate business logic into what you're designing

• Be on top of UX best practices and functionality, and be thinking about what happens when the member goes through the flows of web and mobile apps and how they interact/engage with the web and mobile apps.

• Be able to work effectively with minimal guidance and be able to take an idea from the Product Manager and run with it to turn it into a high-quality design. There is no hand-holding in this role. They need someone that is self-sufficient, has an independent "go-getter" personality, and someone that thrives with being given autonomy. There is 80-90% autonomy in this role, meaning, the designer is being trusted to take the Product Manager's ideas/vision and turn it into great design without having to check in and get approval on each idea they have. This role is for the highly empowered designer.

Qualifications

Job Skills/Requirements
- +90% English written and oral (at least C1 level) with excellent communication skills

- Proven experience with lead forms, web pages, marketing pages, and mobile web design

- Candidates will need to provide their portfolio

- Must have 6 hours of overlap with the Pacific Time Zone (candidates need to either live in a similar time zone or be willing to adjust their schedules to accommodate)

- They need someone with strong design systems thinking, UX design best-practices

- Proven experience with Figma

- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while maintaining a positive attitude

- Needs to be able to collaborate and effectively interface with the Product Manager and various other stakeholders (engineers, business stakeholders, etc.) but can also thrive/work well independently with minimal guidance

- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Must be open to learning; open to getting their hands dirty and getting going, not just waiting around

- Must be operational, organized, and efficient

- Ability to take business requests and break them down into manageable steps to achieve a goal

Additional Information

Strong skills in
- Communication - ENGLISH MUST BE AN 8.5 AT MINIMUM, IDEALLY A 9/10
- Collaboration - needs to be able to collaborate and effectively interface with Product Manager and various other stakeholders (engineers, business stakeholders, etc.) but can also thrive/work well independently with minimal guidance.
- They need someone with strong design systems thinking, UX design best-practices 
- Person must be a self-starter / "go-getter" type personality that can work autonomously 80-90% of the time without needed to constantly check in with the Product Manager. They need someone who can take and act on the Product Managers ideas/vision and turn them into well designed mockups and prototypes.
- The person MUST BE ABLE TO:
• Take initiative and have a mindset of always being moving and iterating
• Thrive in a consistently changing environment
• Very Important: Must be Open to learn; open to getting their hands dirty and getting going, not just waiting around
• They need someone that is operational, organized, and efficient. These abilities are more important than having the "perfect" design skills
