Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
This position requires a medical examination. The incumbent is required to lift up to 20-100 lbs.
Must be able to maintain or obtain a current Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of your starting date.
Drug testing required due to requiring Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Wire Communications Cable Splicing Inspector without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common troubleshooting all types of telephone equipment and distribution systems; using tools/equipment such as holehawgs, rotohamers, drill motors hot metal pots, aerial buckets, ladders; and common hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, hammers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating
Physical Effort - Work requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, pulling cables, and working in cramped or uncomfortable conditions, underground or at moderate heights for extended periods. Frequently lifts and carries 20 to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions - Works inside and outside in all weather conditions, and occasionally in crawlways under buildings or in attics. Exposed to injuries from use of hand tools, electrical shock while working with cables which may be electrically charged, falls from high places when installing or repairing aerial cables, and noxious fumes in manholes.

This position is designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Due to the essential nature of this position, the incumbent cannot be a Ready Reservist, National Guardsman, or Military Retiree with recall obligations
The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs may be warranted. This position may be subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
