About the position: This position will be assigned to The Aero Club, Located on Edwards AFB, CA.

- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- Must complete a pre employment physical within 60 days.
- Must possess a drivers license to drive government vehicles.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to random testing.
- Must be able to work shift work including weekends, holidays, nights/evenings etc.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
- Required to be certificated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an "Airframe and Powerplant" (A&P) mechanic; inspection authorized (IA) credential is required.
- Must possess skills in maintaining aircraft forms and records, reading and interpreting aviation technical manuals, removal, repair, reassemble, and replacement of aircraft components and systems, experience in small, general aviation aircraft systems is mandatory.
- Ability in performing aircraft inspections, the use of aviation hand tools and test equipment, troubleshooting and diagnosing aircraft systems. Must have six (6) months of specialized experience in maintenance and repair of general aviation fixed wing aircraft systems, airframes, components or assemblies.
- Must work out of doors in hot, cold and humid conditions.
- Moderate to heavy lifting is required. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
- Must possess a driver's license and be qualified to drive on the Main Base and South Base flight line, within 60 days of employment.
- This position is a drug testing designated position (TDP). Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

- U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation.
