The company produces gelatine capsules for the pharmaceutical and nutritional markets and is based at the Tilburg site in the Netherlands. At this facility there is also a manufacturing plant with eight production lines. Annual sales amount to € 60 mil and FTE total around 285.

The position reports to the Financial Controller of Patheon Softgels B.V. as part of the Global Finance Department of ThermoFisher Scientific.The objective is the supervision of the financial administration, reporting and analysis of financial results and the control activities of the company.

The finance department consists of 4 FTE, the Finance Manager, Business Controller and 2 Financial Controllers. Operational financial activities are performed by a Shared Service Centre in India.

This is a permanent position based at the Tilburg, Netherlands office initially offered as a 1-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent contract thereafter.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Financial Controller is responsible for assisting the Financial Controller in managing the company's financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory adherence. This role demands a strong grasp of accounting principles, tax regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. The Assistant Financial Controller will collaborate with various departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data and contribute to the financial well-being of the organization.

Job scope:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
• Preparing and submitting various declarations (e.g.ICP, CBS, Environmental, etc.).
• Supporting the Controller and Manager with various ad hoc projects (both from the internal organization and from external stakeholders).
• Assist the Shared Service Centre with daily bank bookings and maintain customer and supplier records in the ERP database.
• Support in bank reconciliations and weekly payments.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable and accounts payable administration and general ledger.
• Ensure all accounting entries are accurate and posted in a timely manner.
• Reconcile key financial accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Support internal and external auditors during audits and ensure audit findings are addressed promptly.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Must be fluent in both English and Dutch language
• Has some experience in basic accounting, assisting in preparing financial statements
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• Proficient in Office365, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work under difference pressures
