Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Site Controller with dotted-line responsibilities to the Sr. Plant Manager. The position has no direct reports
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Assist in preparing, implementing, and monitoring the Annual Operating Plan and various financial reports/statistics to ensure adherence to short and long range financial goals. Monitor performance to plan throughout the year and communicate variances to Sr. Plant Manager and site operational staff
  • Administer policies and procedures supporting the Sr. Plant Manager and operational staff to ensure maximum productivity and throughput, reduce operating cost, support Lean activities and ensure the safest possible plant operations
  • Determine proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Oversees monthly Accounting close activities in accordance with established procedures to ensure timely completion and accurate information
  • Monitor facility’s profitability, margins, A/R, inventory transactions while identifying problems and potential problems and offer solutions to resolve issues
  • Perform statistical analysis to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes to site performance and present findings
  • Incumbent must be able to effectively communicate with employees, outside vendors and agencies, if necessary
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes
  • Monitor Risk and Control Effectiveness – Conduct sufficient risk monitoring to regularly assess the ongoing effectiveness of the internal control design to implement improvements in a complete and timely manner
  • Enforce Accountability – Hold yourself and others accountable for maintaining an ethical and competent work environment through example setting, reporting, and resolution of any ineffective control or unethical conduct
  • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures, and efficient control and utilization of financial resources
  • Monitor procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer and disposal of records

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelor’s with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting and inventory reporting and analysis
  • 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience including account reconciliations, journal entries, and a basic understanding of internal controls
  • Strong analytical, thinking and reasoning skills
  • Detail and goal oriented
  • Strong initiative and ability to make decisions, take action and solve problems
  • High proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel and Power Point skills

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of accounting software and manufacturing ERP (IFS)
  • Certification (MBA, CPA, CIA, etc.)

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting; however, incumbent may be required to go into the production or shipping/receiving areas. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in person conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Travel as needed less than 5-10%.

In addition, incumbent is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk when moving about the office. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds in working with large files, binders, and boxes of paper. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
