Summary
This position is located in the Physical Rehabilitation Branch, Audiology Section, Division of Clinical Services, Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, New Mexico. The incumbent will perform professional work requiring advanced knowledge and application of concepts of Audiology and integration with other medical and therapeutic services. Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: A graduate or higher level graduate degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice. Your education program must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Audiology in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Three (3) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or one (1) year of experience equivalent to at least GS-9 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Professional knowledge of practices to administer consultative procedures; serves as authority in provider expert advice; knowledge of IHS practices in the rehabilitative and diagnostic audiologic services; ability to make independent decisions.
GS-12: One (1) year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Skill in analyzing and interpreting test results in the evaluation of communicative disorders; ability to plan and conduct a program of therapy independently; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals and groups; evaluating and resolving problems in hearing, voice, language, or speech.

- Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.
- This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
- Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a one (1) year service agreement will be required.
