Job Description
We have a contract opportunity for a Bookkeeper with experience working with small start-up businesses. The contractor will have proven expertise in leading the effort to bring a small business into full compliance with GAAP and “straighten the books.”

The Bookkeeper will organize and coordinate administration duties and office procedures. The Consultant will create and maintain a pleasant work environment (virtual and physical location), ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness, communication, and safety.
As a Bookkeeper, the resource must have experience setting up and maintaining end-to-end financial accounting processes and systems, such as QuickBooks desktop edition and QuickBooks Online. The consultant must also have experience working with CPAs, and other tax professionals, preparing all required financial reports and preliminary tax supporting documentation. The contractor shall be skilled in processing payroll, payroll taxes, monthly vendor payments, plus establishing and supporting accounts receivables efforts.
Bookkeeping Responsibilities Include:
- Review existing business accounting practices and reinforce or establish efficient accounting processes
- Study accounting software setup and recommend changes to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Evaluate existing business transactions recorded and ensure all data is accurate and complete across all accounting periods
- Assess current electronic filing practices for accounting records and recommend changes when necessary
- Collaborate weekly with business lead to scan, electronically file, and record all “paper” transactions
- Update and record weekly all business transactions
- On a weekly basis track and initiate the payment process for business credit card transactions
- Setup a payments calendar to ensure the business is always on time paying liabilities, and initiate weekly payments
- Establish and initiate the invoicing of accounts receivables
- Report weekly on business cash flows and recommend strategies to streamline cash flow
- Conduct a weekly reconciliation of bank accounts
- Recommend and generate financial reports for business leaders
- From time to time help present business financials to company leadership
- When necessary assist the company in preparing or providing supporting documents for CPA audits and tax preparations
- Help the company setup and process employee payroll
- Assist the business in filing quarterly taxes
- If necessary help the business migrate between QuickBooks versions
- Occasionally assist business leads to understand how to perform basic QuickBooks operations, such as printing checks, etc.
- Assist the business lead in complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
This is an hourly position with opportunity for overtime.

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years experience working as a bookkeeper/accountant
- Must have at least an Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field
- May substitute degree with 15 years of proven experience or 10 years and a related certificate
- Minimum of 5 years experience working directly with small start-up businesses
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience working with QuickBooks
- QuickBooks certificate preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as an Office Manager, Front Office Manager or Administrative Assistant
- Knowledge of office administrator responsibilities, systems, and procedures
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
- Hands-on experience with office machines (e.g. scanners, printers, fax machines)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem solving
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work on a Corp-to-Corp contract by having own US-based C-Corp, S-Corp, or LLC
- Local to the Lake Nona area in Orlando, FL
