Job Description

About the Company

Valon’s mission is to empower every homeowner. We believe the journey of home ownership starts when you get your keys, but lasts far beyond. We’re creating a world where home ownership comes with ease, security, and financial know-how. Our growing team of engineers, operators, product enthusiasts, and experienced servicing professionals are leveraging technology to fundamentally improve the homeownership experience. Through mortgage servicing—the process of paying off one’s mortgage—Valon is taking the first step in transforming the industry one homeowner, and lender, at a time.

Insurance at Valon

Valon Insurance is a new venture within Valon. Its primary objective is to create new revenue streams for Valon by cross-selling consumer insurance products, developing Valon’s own insurance offerings, and improving the overall customer insurance experience. Insurance is a critical component in every customer’s homeownership journey and we endeavor to build an insurance ecosystem that enables every Valon homeowner to access quality insurance products at affordable rates. As a member of the Valon Insurance team, you will be directly involved in helping build, launch, and scale this new vertical.

About the Role

We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented BizOps Manager who is passionate about building from the ground up and can operate in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment. The right candidate can both prioritize for the business strategically and also roll up their sleeves and get into the weeds. This role requires someone who can forge their own path without clear guidance, tackle complex problems, own processes end to end, and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Take 0 to 1 ownership of a new business area within the Insurance vertical: carrier partnerships and building our agent of record business
  •  Leverage in-depth knowledge of our homeowner base to make strategic decisions regarding insurance partnerships
  • Engage with and pitch to players within the insurance space, including carriers, brokers, etc.
  • Research business and compliance requirements for new processes and product offerings within a highly regulated industry
  • Partner cross-functionally to design and run marketing experiments and test homeowner incentives
  • Build operational processes for your Product Area’s operations team in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Legal and Compliance
  • Ensure that processes scale gracefully as the company scales
  • Drive process and product maturity to continuously improve operational efficiency and excellence as well as the homeowner experience

Ideal Background

  • 5+ years experience working in product management, strategic operations, or business operations roles, preferably at a start-up
  • Ability to operate independently and truly own business results for their area
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive complex projects to completion
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to prioritize, communicate progress, and deliver results across multiple workstreams
  • Extremely self-motivated and results-oriented — is organized, proactive in finding solutions, and has a strong drive to complete projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization
  • High sense of urgency and bias for action
  • Excel and Google Sheets skills required

Benefits

  • Compensation: competitive salary of $160,000-$185,000 with a meaningful stake in the company via equity, and 401k plan
  • Health & well-being: we’ll invest in your physical and mental well-being with comprehensive medical, dental, & vision benefits
  • Food & meals: in-office snacks and drinks, and a $400 monthly stipend towards your lunches or groceries
  • Commuter benefits: We offer pre-tax deductions for public transportation, rideshare services, and parking expenses to make your commute more affordable and convenient.
  • Grow together: Company wide orientation for you to successfully onboard and other learning & development opportunities including regular review cycles that feature 360 degree feedback
  • Play together: quarterly budgets for team and company outings. Use it for team swag, cooking classes, or team dinners!
  • Generous time off: flexible paid time off, sick days, and 11 company holidays
  • Baby bonding time!: 12 weeks off for both birthing and non-birthing parents - fully paid so you can focus your energy on your newest addition

This Base Compensation pay range applies to our New York City located staff and may differ according to location.
